I beg to differ. He didn't have a change of heart. Somebody just has informed him that it's illegal to hack to other people phones and then charge people money to undo the "magic". Even more so that by providing his website he was easily trackable.

That might be the case with the state owned land but, if I'm not mistaken, if you do it on the Government land that makes it a federal case and as far as I remember the consequences are more severe.

The cheapest pre-paid iPhone I could find anywhere is being sold in Switzerland. It costs 519 CHF which is roughly 472 dollars. Not a shabby deal if you ask me.
