What is truly needed is a combination of the Logitech remote's Internet connectivity (e.g. it knows the components) and sequencing. These features on the Harmony remote have forever changed the way home theatre works in my home. These remotes know how to go from watching DVR to listening to Sat radio, and all the steps in between because Logitech has taken the trouble to produce a database that knows how. I've gone through a dozen "smart" remotes and the Harmony was the holy grail.

If the Panasonic remote were to integrate this kind of wizardry, it would be a double threat to all other remotes. Without it, I will never change from the Harmony.
A "vibrate for x minutes" feature where you can set the phone to vibrate for the course of a meeting, but have it switch back to your default ringtone afterward.

Too many times leaving phone on vibrate/silent long after meeting has ended.
If it would help lighten the load from kids' backpacks, I like it. The screen looks horrible, however. We need paperwhite, high contrast. Sony's ebook reader screen looks better (at least from the online pics.) Gray LCDs are horrible for regular reading.

I think that Apple will chime in. The ipod touch and Safari interfaces with page-turning are just too close to a perfect solution, and their displays are amazing.
perfect for my pink floyd playlist

I've posted a fun rebuttal. Enjoy

"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
