I have two things to say:

1) TUAW readers seriously need to sense_of_humor++;
2) If the author of this post can't think of anything really useful to do with their Mini, I assure them I DEFINITELY can ;)
@Steve B Without root, you have no real control over your phone. You can't run anything the carriers don't approve of.
@AndroidDoesnt Nice viral marketing.

Now, let's get started on your stupid FUD!

>not going to make it faster
Well, the processor's speed is probably limited by the kernel. Root gives you control over the kernel. Wanna try again? Also, improvements to the software will likely make it faster - as has already happened with CyanogenMod.

>keyboard, multitouch
You're wrong, for the same reasons cited above.

>half the speed of AT&T 3G
Justify this ridiculous statement?

Root will bring enormous benefits to Droid users. It is part of the reason I will be leaving the iPhone platform for Android. Posted from my iPhone 3GS, btw.

Can Chinese customers hack WiFi support into their phones? Is it just disabled or actually removed?
@Chaosdivine Good trolling attempt. 7/10.
It needs more horsepower. And root.
@m3tric lol. Spoken like a true fanboi.
@[Highest Ranked] What's even more hilarious are people who fail to read in context. I was talking about the rumor that we were going to be seeing an iPhone OS device for $2000, and calling that ridiculous.

Am I not permitted to comment on anything on Engadget that is obvious, wild speculation? Please, outline your rules for interacting with the Internet for me so I can have them at the ready the next time.

Moron.
@Jack Are you serious? Are you really saying that because Apple hasn't announced a tablet, this ENTIRE DISCUSSION is moot? Despite the fact that we ALL KNOW the damn thing is coming?
$2000 for an iPhone OS device. Hilarious.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
