Kohjinsha SX-series convertible tablet edges out of UMPC territory {Engadget}

Jul 23rd 2008 3:47AM This subnotebook [netbook?] is on my back-to-school list.

I love my current HP dv1000, but it's waaaay too big for on-campus use. With 10 -15 lbs. of books in my backpack, this compact unit will be most welcome! The 9.1 x 7.5 x 1.29 inch footprint is perfect since my university uses little chairdesks in the classrooms. The 8.9" 1280x768 screen of the SX seems just right too. I think the Gigabyte M912 is this unit's only real competition, especially since it uses XP and the Kohjinsha only has Vista.

Celio's REDFLY gets unboxed on video, doesn't remind us at all of the Foleo, seriously {Engadget}

Jul 16th 2008 3:48AM 1"x6"x9"... That's the perfect size for a netbook.

And 8-hour range is just right.

But 800x480 8" screen seems wank.

HTC launching MID devices in 2008? {Engadget}

Mar 7th 2008 11:15PM I like some of the MID premises. But as a university student I want a serious convergence device that has the size of a MID device but still have basic laptop functions. It must have the ability to use MS-Office documents as well as a real internet browser (capable of Java & frames). Games and music/multimedia is just a bonus. If the device can't run webCT software (that many colleges and universties rely on) then I can't buy it! I want something that has the simpler functions of my laptop. Carrying a bunch of books around is a pain as it is! Maybe a stripped down version of XP would be better than Linux?

Xs-Drive Vision 2500 stores your stuff, won't get you dates {Engadget}

Oct 20th 2007 2:11AM I like to bring the laptop along when I travel with my family because I have 20-30 children videos stored there. That way I don't have to lug around the DVDs. This device sounds like a fantastic storage medium for mobile travelling with my music & videos without needing a laptop. It sounds like a media hub for my car!

Ford doesn't think "Ford Individuals" want environmental options {Autoblog Green}

Jan 16th 2007 5:14AM Ford's idea to offer orderable customization is great. I hope it works for them as it does for Toyota/ Scion. I hope they have some real choices, not just surface/ color/ sticker treatments.
How about the return of front bench seat options? And maybe more wagon choices for their sedans. Ford might realize not only "old folks" like comfy cars that can be gentle at the same time as having potent performance potential. Ford also needs drivetrain options, like Chevy's future global-strategy for the Volt, where you have electric drives powered by various modular hydrocarbon engines specific to regions or budgets.
