This form factor will never work. What if the screen breaks? You're supposed to send the whole thing in and then have no computer? If the monitor was separate, you could just plug in another monitor.

Lame.
so, how much will the UNION BOSSES be limited to making?

just curios.
wait... what if the monitor breaks?

Are you saying that you can't just plug in another VGA monitor if the screen dies?

How do you upgrade the video card?

Lame.
Jo jo is basically another person against the 1st amedment for people that he disagrees with.

That's fine with me and 10,000+ of my fellow Springsians... those of us with Concealed Weapon permits... see, we use the 2nd Amendment to ensure that they can complain, but can never take away anyone's 1st Amendment rights. Of course, Jo jo, i had my .45 with me when i went at 9:15 saturday morning...

there was far more than 40 people, as Jeff said. At 10:30, there were well over 200 outside, and Lord only knows how many inside the store.

There was an amount of bad planning on this - as they used the shopping center here to be the kickoff of the Firefighter's Memorial Ride. It appears as though the guys at the Apple store, in order to reduce the amount of impact that the store opening would make on such a far more important event - opened the doors before 9, as when i had gotten there, it was already stuffed with people.

Its really great to have an Apple store in our little po-dunk town... we love our little city because its not too hick, yet it hasn't gone insane like Denver (which is nothing more than Los Angeles at 5,280 feet altitude).

Its a great town because its our town - its quiet, there's little crime (thanks again to the previously mentioned hoards of gun owners), and you can be in the mountains in less than 10 minutes - out in some of the most beautiful parts of America and of the whole world.. and it feels like its all yours because there aren't millions of people clogging it all up.

And there's just enough snow to keep most of the Californians and Texans from moving here and screwing it all up.
I bought the AVIC-D3 with iPod cable and Bluetooth unit (it "works" with the iPhone, but i can't download my phone book, and you can't add things to the phone book manually (lame!) so i have 6 phone numbers stored and that's it).

For $400 with the $200 rebate, i'm feeling pretty smug since everything works as advertized, other than the goofiness associated with the iPhone bluetooth and i'm getting XM this week.

The iPhone-as-an-iPod works without a single hitch on this unit. Plus, the hack to make all functions work at all times (watch a DVD, enter an address) regardless of the handbrake setting is easier to do than actually hook up the handbrake.

Get your hands on an AVIC-D3 instead of this apparently bug-laden unit. You'll love it.
i lived in a place where people didn't buy many new cars.... Los Angeles. You couldn't see the mountains a few miles away because of all the crap in the air.

lets just all drive 1981 Cadillac Town Cars, get 11 mpg, and spew 100% smog out the tailpipes...

i love brainless greenies. I'd drive an all electric car, but the freaking greenies have done everything in their power to stop true energy independence and environmentally friendly power - nuclear. Pebble-bed nuclear.

wankers
#15 - i was 100% prepared to say that this was fairly nifty - until he poked holes in the box.

That would be the equivalent of building a workign car out of cracker jacks boxes and then, when showing it to the world, you put it on stage with 4 flat tires.
for the love of Allah....
1080i devices are crap crap crap. 1080i is crap. The interlacing is so bad its hard to even view video from it. When Sony announced it was all 540i (1080i is a total misnomer and doesn't accurately describe what it is doing) - i knew that i'd be in the quandry for a low-cost HD camera - since Panasonic has yet to intro ANYTHING in the sub 2k range.

Actually, HDV is teh suck pretty much no matter how you slice it. I've found that using anything 3CCD 16:9 native will look better than "1080"i after upsampling it in FCP. Video that i've shot with the XL2 upsampled looks far far better than anything spit out on HDV.

the only decent thing about these sony's is that they also shoot DV. Unfortunately, they don't shoot progressive... so... i'm sticking with the Pany's.
wait - $1900 when properly equipped?

Am i missing something, or does this make the MacBook Pro a freaking bargain at 2 grand with all the features it has that the Dell doesn't? Like the wider, brighter screen, built-in video teleconference camera, the lighted keyboard and firewire?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
