I recently took a sledgehammer to my minimaglite- gave it 3 good smashes and it still works. In fact, it punched a hole into the cinder block it was sitting on.
I think this is a great idea; however, why not go out and purchase a respirator from the nearest Lowes or Home Depot for ~$30-40 depending on how much filtering you want? If I was that concerned about the air quality when I bike, this is what I would do now.
I believe there was an article in PopSci a month or two ago about a new developing landfill device that would vaporize trash using a laser- anyone familiar with the article and know if this laser is related?
If not, then it should be; think of all the landfill space/trash we could "get rid of" using this device.
Simply commenting on your response- I have an imported W5. I have had 3 "Toughbook moments" in which my W5 fell or got banged around beyond "normal use". I'm surprised to hear yours "broke" after falling 2 feet; what happened and define broke, if you wouldn't mind.
How was Panasonic's response to your repair request? Thanks,
I'm very impressed with the specs. I would opt for the XP pro as I am giving Vista at least a year, maybe year and a half before considering investing into the software.
Anyone else concerned about the heat this "Dragon" might produce? I bet without proper considerations, this will be blowing fire out the ass if it just sat on a desk or lap for an extended period of time.
I had an Averatec before purchasing my Toughbook; when I got the Averatec, I liked it for its size at 12" and its weight (~4 lbs) at the time. The only thing I didn't like was the seemingly "short" battery life and the heat that it put out. I hope that Averatec can make some updates in these areas.
If not, you all should go get a W5 from Panasonic =)
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
