How would you change Apple's Penryn-based MacBook Pro? {Engadget}

Feb 29th 2008 10:13PM I'd go for it without hesitation if it had two of the features that is better on the cheaper MacBook:
* Magnetic latch and
* Easy access to memory and hard drive.

I can't understand why they haven't done so already.

Garmin's nuvifone flaunted on video {Engadget}

Feb 7th 2008 2:22AM I'm sorry, but Nuvi 360's touchscreen interface is horrendous: They did a far better job in responsiveness and level of sophistication in their ique lines (which I love, by the way), which is ironic, considering that nuvi is a newer device. Problem with the nuvi's UI is that they "simplified" the display by showing *less* information. They took out many of the advanced functions but did not do anything to make the menu navigation any easier. The virtual keyboard is in alphabetical order for some odd reason, and the search function is so slow that it is nearly useless. It's too bad because I like the form factor of the device...I'm betting that they'll botch the UI in nuvifone as well...

Ballmer says Windows installed base will top a billion by the end of 2008 {Engadget}

Three out of how many people? I think roughly a quarter of people I see on regular basis have iPods, and absolutely no Zune. Most people who don't buy it usually buy some Korean branded players or are given some off-brand players as a gift.

I don't have anything against the machine, but people just aren't buying it around me (of course, I do agree that anecdotal evidence is weak, but hard numbers show the likelihood of one knowing someone with an iPod).

Jul 27th 2007 3:50PM Yep, having just finished my doctoral dissertation on it, I can attest to how crappy Office software can be if you are trying to write anything over a few pages (and yes, I know how to use quite a large portion of Word functionalities).

Logitech's Wave keyboard gets reviewed {Engadget}

Jul 27th 2007 1:12PM I like the curvy keyboard, but what's with all the cruft around the keys nowadays!? I with all the manufacturers will sell optional keyboard without the "media" and keypads. I'll pay twice the price of regular keyboard just to avoid them.

An eight-letter word for 'reduced pricing' {DS Fanboy}

Jul 26th 2007 9:54PM It's too bad not too many people bought it.

I hear some people complaining that DS doesn't have games that are geared toward adults, but the popularity of games like crossword puzzles (which is actually really good - I own it) that at least in the States, there are not too many demand for adult-oriented games. Nintendo really need to push their casual gamer marketing here.

On the other hand, there is a deluge of such "games" in Japan, where it's selling like hotcakes. Back to imports, I suppose. :(

Just in case you forgot: Front Mission DS is awesome {DS Fanboy}

Jul 26th 2007 5:06AM I bought FM at Play-Asia, thanks to your timely notice on the special pricing when it first came out. Unfortunately, it ate up a lot of my time - it's that addictive.

What befuddles me is that, while some writers in this blog is fond of giant robot games, you haven't mentioned about Sandlot's "Chou-soujuu Mecha MG" (Which translates to "Super-Pilot Mech MG"). It's truly a great but underrated mech game, which has a control scheme that is perfect for DS.

Stephen Colbert gets an iPhone, warns of impending iEye release {Engadget}

Jul 20th 2007 5:02PM I suggest you look up the archive for Zune coverage for its extent. News follows what's hot and notable. If Engadget doesn't do it, some other blog will. There is a competition for people's eyeballs for these websites, you know (like great Gizmodo comeback with Jesus Diaz illustrations).

Shimadzu DataGlass 3/A: the HMD for Cyclops {Engadget}

Jul 20th 2007 4:12PM Wait, wouldn't cyclops be blindfolded if they wore these?
