"Why does he have one round hand and one square hand?"
"In regards to the WiFi indicator, after doing some research on various forums, i have discovered that this model will likely not have WiFi however they are set to release another version of the 8800 (perhaps 8850) in a few months that will have WiFi as well as a camera"

Just in time. Doesn't RIM notice that many people who wants a BlackBerry would never receive one from their employers, since they aren't sufficiently important on the company's hierarchy? And these people, unlike corporations, would accept happily paying a few bucks more to have a camera? They really should have more models with camera. If a company thinks it's a waste of money, they buy one without camera, but if a person thinks it's worth, he/she buys one with camera.
"Wow, so many negative comments. I guess people don't really see the purpose of this law: Liability.

Let's say you are driving along and some knucklehead steps out in front of you because they have no clue what they are doing. They are talking on their phone or listening to music, basically tuning out the world. With this law in place you would not be responsible for hitting them, they would be as they are doing something against the law.

This has nothing to do with enforcement, no cop is going to walk up to you and cite you for your iPod. But if you walk out into traffic with them on and get hit, now it will be YOUR FAULT! If this is not typical NY than nothing is."

Problem is: what happens when I'm listening to my DAP, wait the traffic light go red for the cars, look if no car is trespassing the red light, and start crossing. Then an idiot who is coming from the other street of the intersection turns at 80mph without looking and hits me. He'll just point to the cops that there are earbuds in my ears and go away without being hold liable for injuring or killing me?
I agree with idude135 too. How can you be fired for just planning to do something? And how can you be fired for something you'd be doing in YOUR own computer, which belongs to YOU, not to the company? I thought companies ruled only over their own computers, not over the employee's personal computers.
if there's risk of a seizure, why don't they adopt a single measure: delete all the info from the servers every day? so even if the servers are seized, they're gonna find only the info about the current day, nothing more than it.
Once again, I can't understand why such phones have to be so limited. Make a GPS-totting, full-featured phone. Same safety for the kids, and decent cellphone functionality.
"You guys commenting about periscope optics and the like...you do realize that if photons can get to the CCD to form an image, then the beam (also composed of photons, incredibly), will do exactly the same thing, and knock out the CCD."

I guess what they wanted to say is: since the CCD isn't directly exposed, will this system be able to notice it? maybe it can't detect the CCD's image reflected by the periscope, so it won't even shot.
Moe said: "The phone can only be used to dial a select few numbers, such as their parents, or 'emergency' contact numbers. The use for this cell phone is so that they can contact their parents for a ride if they get out of school early, need their parents to pick them up if they're sick, etc. NOT because they need to call all their friends so that they can all play oblivion for 16 hours..."
okay, I agree about the kids having a phone for being able to call dad if school finishes earlier or call the police if needed. but why give them a phone that is so limited? give them a standart cellphone with GPS tracking and with the needed numbers (dad, mom, police, etc.) on quick dial, but with the ability to dial other numbers too. if you're affraid of heavy phone bills, give them pay-as-you-go phones. this way you secure your kids as much as with this "LG Migo" crap without cripling so much their communications.
at #3: "The low tech solution would be, run from the cops, catch a high speed low drag lead projectile in the head." "Running from the police is stupid! I don't feel sorry for anyone who gets hurt running from the police." Very few days ago a guy was killed by police here in Brazil because he run from the cops. He didn't commit any crime and he didn't have a gun, simply his driving license was outdated. Do you find it acceptable that someone get killed just for not wanting to receive a ticket? Do you find it acceptable that someone get killed just because they were confused with the real criminals and wasn't in mood to obey a cop? Do you find it acceptable that someone is killed without having any gun and without having commited any crime? If yes, I think it's you who deserves a shot in your head, you bastard!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
