Looks like someone's overly sensitive here. Sony PS3 is getting twice more negative press, not counting FUD from the mob of haters.
So, they prettied up the UI, prettied up the shell and labelled it next gen? I hope they also prettied up the box and the packaging. The sheeps will waste no time to abandon their current iPod and shell out more dough to Mr. Jobs to get that "new gen" iPod.
I guess you meant "overestimate". But yeah, it's so true. For the millions of kids, like with everything else nowadays, it's not about features or value, it's about style, coolness, having a status symbol and being fashionable. My little bro works at Staples and numerous times, a moron comes in and asks for an iPod but have not freaking idea who it looks like or how it works ("what is MP3?"). It's absolutely insane how the "iPod idea" is imprinted in people's consciousness.
Creative needs to make its UI prettier and cooler because the average-joe digs the UI and doesn't know or doesn't care about the other features -- they like eye-candy UI. That's where Apple puts all its "engineers" to work on and that's where Ceative is lacking. I have a Zen V Plus, it's great but its UI is just sucky and fugly compared to the iPod's. Just put some animation, pastel colors and some 3D icons and buttons and average Mr Joe and Ms Jane will be wow'ed by that. It's as simple and as idiotic as it sounds.
Yeah, get a PS3, an Xbox360 and the HD-DVD add-on, what a brilliant idea! Now let's connect those to your HDTV via HDMI. Let's see: HDMI IN #1 connects to your HD Satellite TV box, HDMI IN #2 connects to your PS3... ooops you're screwed: no HDMI INPUT for your Xbox360.

Regarding the buttons location, you should still be able to see and access the buttons even if the player is on a rack. Besides, we're in 2007, people use the remote 99.99% of the time.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
