MS reveals their Tokyo Game Show lineup {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Oct 7th 2008 11:51AM I must say I'm a little surprised Lips isn't on the list.

Karaoke seems to be a big part of Japanese social culture, I'd think they'd want to push it aggressively to that market.

Fanswag: Win Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 [update] {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Aug 15th 2008 5:28PM My favorite color is blue. It is clearly superior to all other colors, despite what those silly 'researchers' say about red teams.

Red Faction Guerrilla beta drops {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Aug 9th 2008 7:37PM Played this yesterday... it's... not 'awesome', not 'horrible'. Sorta 'okay', I personally think.

The entire game (visuals, some aspects of movement/gameplay) reminds me of Tribes (showing my age, maybe), as well as a little bit of the old Quake/Doom deathmatches (just in the way it 'handles')

All of the buildings are destructible, which is a nice touch. One particular game, most of the other team quit, so we took it upon ourselves to level the whole map so we could find their one last guy. At the end, you could see clearly from one end of the map to the other.

The 'backpacks' are very cool (Rhino, baby!), and there are 5 with their own unique abilities (Jetpack, Sprinting, Concussion, Rhino, and Firepower (increased damage))

Concussion eminates a shockwave that radiates roughly 30 feet around you, knocking all enemies on their asses), while Rhino gives you a short but powerful burst of speed that kills anyone who gets in your way and also knocks holes in walls.

There's nothing like seeing an enemy on the other side of a wall and just crashing through it like the Kool-Aid Guy. Makes things pretty dramatic when you're on the receiving end (especially since us gamers are generally used to walls being 'safe').

Personally, I don't think I'd buy it (assuming it was released at a 'standard' price), but if you give it an hour to get a feel for how things work, you do start to appreciate some of the gameplay aspects, and before you know it, it's 3 AM :-/

Give it a try if you can, maybe you'll feel differently.

Omegathon 2008 lineup includes Peggle, Boom Blox, Rock Band, Jenga {Joystiq}

Aug 7th 2008 11:15AM Hey, I'm a Joystiq reader!

The only thing that sucks about the Omegathon so far is having to buy these games to practice! I said in one of the previous Boom Blox posts that I'd be the first one to pick it up once it came down in price -- I guess I'll be forced to go back on that ;)

Peggle is a surprisingly good game, wish they'd get this out for XBLA already.

I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to 'practice' for Pictionary, though. Perhaps I can moonlight as a psychologist and pretend my drawings are Rorschach.

Achievements coming to Diablo III and Starcraft II, linked to Blizzard account {Joystiq}

Aug 3rd 2008 12:55PM Doesn't look likely -- according to stats on MyGamerCard.net, the average GamerScore is 104.

This either means it's not as easy as it seems, or it's just that horrible that people can't stomach going any further.

New Portal: Still Alive content mined from Flash version and no GLaDOS {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jul 20th 2008 3:34PM Seems quite strange/ironic, considering they made the announcement in GLaDOS' voice....

Portal: Still Alive additional levels based off Portal: The Flash Version, won't include GlaDOS {Joystiq}

Jul 20th 2008 3:34PM Seems kinda ironic, considering they made the announcement in GLaDOS' voice

E308: FFXIII team will find ways to compress and not 'affect the final product' {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jul 16th 2008 3:08PM I have an idea:

How about more gameplay, and less FMV?
