Eh... I'm a bit lost here.

What should we define as a USB-stick (or an sATA-stick for that matter) and what's the difference with a USB/sATA SSD drive?

I installed Windows XP MediaCenter on CF-card, using an IDE to CF adapter, several times and it works just fine (not as fast but certainly quick enough).

Looks like we need to redifine all these terms.

Any ideas on this?

I bought this BeBook device and swiftly returned it to Amazon.
It crashes constantly and using SDcards is a nightmare.
In my opinion this device is for users who like to spend hours with upgrading firmware, scrolling through the BeBook forum in order to resolve the numerous errors of the BeBook reader. Taken together, this product is not market ready and way over-priced.
Skimming: every ATM should show a picture of the unmodified/original credit card entrance slit on the ATM's screen. I understand this will result in costs for all banks involved but not doing anything at all may even be more costly. Currently every ATM has a different entrance slit to put your card in. We consumers can't possible judge if this slit is the original one or a fake. Banks: ACTION!
What I ask myself: why are these SSD's still 2,5" ???!!!
well, at this point it may be quite illustrative that we all use biofuel from algae EVERYDAY!
it's actually our crudeoil which originates from algae.
for the Open Source lovers: algOS
(www.oilgae.com)

but I guess in the USA there are probably about 5 (maybe 6) people who care about the environment...
Everytime I hear "UMPC"... I think: LIBRETTO!!!!!!!!!
Come on Toshiba give us a proper UMPC!
Hi John!

Well, I understand that's the reason. What I'm trying to point out is that these SSD's should be fitted like a SO-DIMM onto the mainboard. Although I do not know how many memory modules are inside such a SSD and if they need extra cooling.

Are SSD's in SO-DIMM format feasible?

Greetz, Frank
can anyone tell me why these things are 2.5 inches wide?
Looks rather stupid.

There are some nice, afforadable, models from dutch bicycle companies (Batavus, Sparta, Gazelle, Union, Giant) that look A LOT better!

No, wrong concept...
these metal catalyst techniques are really rather boring compared to bio-fuel-cells (containing either isolated enzymes or micro-organisms)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
