Microsoft has stated the reason for not including the logos is the requirement to go to each and every station to ask for permission to use their logo. Managing and keeping that set of legal agreements up-to-date would be costly. Thanks lawyers!
Since this is a .NET application, you'll see higher memory usage in Task Manager than with a native application, but doesn't necessarily mean it's using all of that. There's a pretty good explanation here:

It most likely has to do with their licensing of the maps. Have a look the TOS for any online map service and you'll see the same restriction.

"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
