Garmin and TomTom's lower end devices weren't bad but their mad updates and higher end devices were totally over priced.
Must haves for any media center type device

Hulu
Netflix
Boom boom boom
Add in DirecTV RF control and you have a winner.
This thing is very tempting. I really want a slim, cool running, laptop that will do streaming Netflix, Hulu, and DirecTV2PC. This seems like it is very very close but not quite there for all of the above. Netflix should be accelerated soon with Sliverlight 3 (if I understand things) and DirecTV2PC might just work (though the machine is well under some suggestions). Hulu is the one that doesn't seem to have a chance.

Once the dual core version is out I'll probably bite.
Enjoy your macbook. No need to crap on everyone else.
The Dell 14z is the one I've been watching. These others don't seem to stack up too well.
Compare this to the Dell 14z. Its easy to get a good build with a Core2Duo processor for $650. It has pretty much the same graphics engine and it pretty thin. Not as small as a netbook but a way better value.
Catch the right sale and a Dell 14Z costs about the same...with a core2 processor.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
