Dear Microsoft, please keep your lousy mitts off my Firefox install {Download Squad}

Oct 18th 2009 12:49AM replying to Lee, the author:

Lee, you once again show your bias. You arrogant idiot. The plugin is installed when the user installs .Net framework, which assumes the user would need the plugin when using the browser (IE, FF, whatever..). Just like Adobe installs plugins when you install its PDF reader, like Apple installs iTunes launcher plugins when you install iTunes or QT, and the list goes on. You imply that this is not unique to Microsoft, yet your faux outrage is reserved just for Microsoft. 'Dirty Ape'?? You stupid F.

Microsoft store opening October 22nd, insides revealed? {Engadget}

Oct 16th 2009 2:07PM @ Thomas Ricker:

Perhaps you could get back to meaningful and useful blogging once you let go of Apple's metaphorical dick..

I am getting tired of the obsessive sarcasm and snark when reporting anything to do with Microsoft.

Windows not fit for online banking, says Washington Post blog {Download Squad}

Oct 14th 2009 4:02PM This is a knee-jerk reactionary article, from an author that 'plays with five computers and dozens of other chirping blinking devices.'

Sure, booting from a LiveCD will prevent the OS from being infected.. but what about phishing and social engineering attacks? What about SSL compromises? What if the host OS has already been compromised when the user visited teh pr0n sites, or downloaded some shady software from sleazy web sites? Using LiveCD in that case will not completely protect the user.

In the end, the article should have been titled "stupid users are not fit for online banking, or Web surfing altogether." Even if the stupid user hides behind LiveCDs, or *nix based OS for long if s/he continues to use stupid decisions while online.

Sep 28th 2009 2:12PM I think you meant to say 'a phone incapable of multitasking'... in speaking of the iPhone..

Snow Leopard review {Engadget}

Aug 27th 2009 3:15PM Nilay, Josh,

Care to throw some light on which Mac models can access which Snow Leopard features? I sent a tip to you, pointing to the handy chart put together by Stephen Foskett (and enhanced by Ed Bott of ZDNet) at:

http://blog.fosketts.net/2009/08/24/mac-os-106-snow-leopard-hands-august-28/

I am surprised you did not touch upon how older Macs are left out on some or most of the new features in Snow Leopard. I hope for objectivity's sake, you'd include this data as a PSA.

Jul 16th 2009 9:43PM @Jorvay:

You a$$wipe, what Microsoft Tax are you referring to? The cost of the OS adds barely $50 to the price of a PC, if that, and with netbooks it is as low as $15. What tax are you talking about?
