The embargo stuff is kind of funny when both Engadget and Gizmodo post the same thing at midnight. Kinda hard to realistically cover rumors about a device you've got in front of you.
I fly a few times per week and have noticed a ton of grey haired frequent fliers with Kindles. Sometimes in the "preferred rows" on the shuttle you'll see as many as 3 out of 4 people have them.
I thought this looked like Hasty Pudding... This is from Renee Zellweger's parade as woman of the year. Another photo of her with the phone: http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Globe_Photo/2009/02/05/hasty1__1233865923_4922.jpg

>looks down at the Kinesis Classic I'm typing on which came with two "1" keys and no "2" key<

Er, I guess I really should have taken photos of this thing and promoted it online. Anyone wanna overpay for a Kinesis with no "@" symbol?
"Microsoft is providing a covenant not to sue open source developers for development or non-commercial distribution of implementations of these protocols. These developers will be able to use the documentation for free to develop products. Companies that engage in commercial distribution of these protocol implementations will be able to obtain a patent license from Microsoft, as will enterprises that obtain these implementations from a distributor that does not have such a patent license."

Is this compatible with any open source license? I have to imagine this was done to sound good to EU regulators but be worthless to open source. That's not to say this isn't good news for smaller developers who are interested in developing commercial products, but it's mostly worthless to the rest of us.
I'm amused to see these repurposed as a gamer device. These aren't all that uncommon as a monitor for a drummer. You attach one to their "drum throne" and they can feel the beat coming through it (drummers have a tendency to be deaf after years around cymbols, and there's only so far you can push monitor volume to overcome drum sound levels).
I also came here to complain about the McIntosh slight, but it looks like plenty of people beat me here. McIntosh was a reasonably well known name in pro audio and audiophile circles long before Apple was born.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
