Bill Gates on Mac ads: "I don't even get it" {Engadget}
Feb 2nd 2007 11:56PM "Oh, and I'm not really into paying for a "new" OS when it's really just a service pack and a ridiculous premium on year-old hardware just because there's a little white glowing apple on the box."
Ok, i'll look into the OS dig first. Apple may release a new OS yearly, but its nothing even close to a service pack. They tend to add excellent features. Lets look at the step from 10.3 to 10.4.
Features added (taken from http://www.apple.com/macosx/newfeatures/)
-Spotlight
-Dashboards
-Safari RSS
- ichat A/V
-automater
- quicktime 7 )although, i can download that for free so i suppose this doesn't even count
-voice over
-parental controls
-mail thats been updated with spotlight support
So, we have spotlight, parental controls, and widgets. I feel these are three great add ons to any operation system and reason enough to upgrade. Hell, arn't these plus aqu... er, aero the reasons to upgrade to vista?
Rant part 2.
You said that harware wise macs are well, ripoffs. Well, if you price out a mac pro and a dell the mac is infact the better deal.
Dell-xps 710 red with core 2 extream 2.66, 2 gig dual channel ram, 500 gig HD, 16X dual drives, no monitor and a geforce 8800 GTX is $3,818. A mac pro with a very similar set up is $3,246.00. All funds american. The only differance with the computers is the mac is an xeon 2.66. The xeon and the core 2 extream perform very simular. The extreame will squeeze out 5 or so fps higher than its brother but the xeon seems to be faster on non gaming applications. The mac has a ati x1900 XT card. The dell clearly does have a better videocard, but if you are willing to sacrifice a great video card for a very good one, you will save around 550. Premium? Show me where.

Feb 2nd 2007 11:09PM So, what your saying is that since you or your sister cant figure out how to reformat a mac, its shit? I'm a pc user for now and with typing some simple words like "reformatting a mac" in google i somehow managed to find out how to reformat a mac. I simply clicked a link and found this site. http://www2.ucsc.edu/ihop/Reformat%20a%20Mac.htm
If neither of you were capable of using the all mighty google, i really feel for you.

Feb 2nd 2007 10:51PM Could the fact that vista is faster on the mac pro be because osx has possibly been on the mac with applications installed on it and Vista is brand new out of the box with nothing installed on it? The part i want to know is if vista stays fast after months of use. I knew my pc was alot after when i installed xp at first than now when im waiting upwards of a min for it to boot and several for everything to load on the desktop.
Also, i dont understand the emo comment. Because im sure all mac users are 15 year olds who have terrible tastes in music and clothing. Oh, and towards the choices commment. Don't mac users have more choices? I sure know that on a mac you can boot vista/ xp and OSX. On a pc you can boot, well, vista/xp. Now, this is just me, but 2>1.
