I think I am among the majority of people who have experience with MOXI when I say that the only thing that makes my MOXI box from Charter tolerable is the price when compared to Tivo Series 3. I don't know why it's been an insurmountable task for the competition to emulate the basic functionality of Tivo from 8 years ago, but it has. Why? Why oh frickin' why? Maybe because the customer is generally a cable company that has a de facto local monopoly.
I don't understand why, rather than, y'know, linking to the material in question, Engadget writers prefer to link to Engadget keyword searches so that we can read all about the Engadget articles of yore instead of finding the $79.99 MDA deal. Why? The MDA is out of stock on t-mobile.com. Is there some other hidden corporate site?
How about Apple get with the program and incorporate Bluetooth into the hard drive based players? Who wants to use A2DP headphones with a huge dongle hanging off the device?
OMG that's so amazing! They're playing back a screencap video of an OS X desktop on an iPod!
Unless they're planning to deploy a constellation in low earth orbit, the service will suck because of the inherent latency. Geostationary orbit is at 22000 miles, so a ping would have to travel that distance four times, giving a latency of ~500 ms minimum.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
