STAY in business? Ehm... Maybe Engadget should be a LITTLE more critical? Obviously this is an ugly render so, ehm, how to stay in business? Let's see: make a cheap render of an unexisting product (that sells for 21000 dollars) and try to get very uncritical editors to write about it. Then wait for five orders and have some prototypes made, for which the 100.000 dollars is more than enough.

Come on Engadget.. I think the Apple/iPhone coverage debate is really silly, but you should know better than to post such irrelevant stuff.
Haha! Am I the only one here that is reminded of Douglas Coupland's magnificent invention (in jPod)?? :-)
To those wondering about the language issue: in Belgium (where most people suppose the iPhone will be launched in a couple of months - if not in time for christmas gift shopping) we have 3 major languages: French, Dutch/Flemish and English for some (like Eurocrats in Brussels). On top of that we have a minor German speaking community. If the phone becomes available here, chances are high that users will be able to freely choose between different languages without penalty.
M, I second your post. Same here: it's articles like this that make me read Engadget less and less. If there is ONE blog you'd expect to be informed (read: LG was first) and take a proper stance on the ridiculous supposed-iPhone-ripoff stuff, it's Engadget. Yeah, of course it generates traffic and comments, but in the long run you lose your authority, and readers, Engadget.

Do better fast.
Thank you to some of the previous posters for pointing out that the LG Pradaphone was shown to the general audience and will be released for sale earlier than the iPhone. Not to mention that by the time these pics are released to the audience products like this have been in development for two years, and specs drawn up more than a year before release. Moreover, there inevitably comes a certain moment when a technological component becomes affordable for average consumer products. From this time on the market will be flooded with similar design. This happened for clamshell phones, it happened for slider phones, it's happening now with ultrathin phones (driven by - supriiiise - new technological possibilities). For exactly this reason for the last few years virtually EVERY respectable design firm has been churning out exactly the same type of concept (as the iPhone). It was just a question of first to market. The originality of the concept is nice, but not infinitely impressive, and certainly not sometime apple can claim as sole inventor. We have reached a time where the thickness of the bezel is finally thin enough, batteries strong enough and touch screens bright enough to make this concept reality at an affordable price. Apple and LG bear testament to this.

Sooooo... Please refrain from yelling "it's an iPhone copy" everytime a similar concept is shown. You are just showing yourself to be uninformed and a bit infantile.
Uhm, nr. 16: European cars tending to be of inferior quality to American cars??? You have got to be kidding. Ever driven a BMW, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Jaguar (before Ford ownership)? When it comes to quality, you'd be hardpressed to find American contenders.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
