3G iPhone Predictions {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
May 12th 2008 7:03PM Europe has had video conferencing for a few years now, it's about time we got it in the US, and it should be through an Instant Messaging app, i.e. iChat, AIM, etc. This will set off a new trend, Video Chat from anywhere without a premium, no per minute costs, etc. Just straight data flow off of your data plan or wi-fi. with that said, this is what we need to see out of the next gen iPhone.
*no MMS - instead, how about MMM - Multi Media Mail, since everyone is going to have e-mail, let's get rid of this MMS and SMS crap, everything should be e-mail based from here on out. If everyone had IM on their phones, we wouldn't need SMS and there would be no premium for SMS or MMS.
*3G or 4G data - 3G for now, but i hear that 4G is coming sooner than we expect, and why not just skip a generation that has been around for 3 years now? I guess to feed the need we will have a 3G iPhone, but don't expect 3G to be around for too much longer.
*A2DP Stereo Bluetooth protocol - all they have to do is fix the firmware and even current gen iPhones will be able to have stereo bluetooth capabilities. I hope Apple makes a nice headset, of good quality with a mini LCD on it and real control, sort of like what sony has had for years, but with the nice apple design, and not of the quality of their current bluetooth headset, which sucks some nuts.
*Video - both on the front for iChat or IM, and on the back camera, which should get an upgrade to 4-5 megapixels. And at 32 GB, that would be a lot of capacity for DV quality video, which would be great during events or disasters, turns everyone into an i-reporter!!!
*Phone Conversation recording - This would be very helpful, especially when i have to call in for my xbox 360 replacement for the 6th time.
*Customizable alert tones, better/louder speaker, more obvious vibration settings - i know that my wife never hears here phone when it's in here purse, very bad considering this is supposed to be a mobile phone.
*With the appstore, we should see a flurry of usable apps done just the way they should be for all of us who want to customize the look and interface of our phones, anything should be possible as far as software goes since this is almost a full blown OS.
CES 2008 ultimate swag bag giveaway: like a Xmas stocking in January {Engadget}
Jan 11th 2008 2:08AM I know that news of the Philips 52 inch multitouch screen was released prior to CES, but the demo video that was posted was hot hot hot, although they seem to need to work on the Lag.
Oh the future is so bright, I can hardly wait.

China and the US are getting hitched (with fiber) {Engadget}
Oct 23rd 2007 4:55PM @ Jacob - No, but the perception that we could use those 63 million call slots from America to order Chinese food from China, that is an ignorant view of what exists in China and how we as Americans view the Chinese. If this were said about a Chinese restaurant in America, that may have been funny, but we are talking about China here, and most of you don't even know anything about China or the Chinese.
Things we should be grateful for that come from China - Ice Cream, Medicine, Silk, Fireworks/Gunpowder/other types of arms, Tea, and more.
Things that don't exist in China - Chinese food, they just call it food.

Oct 23rd 2007 3:18PM For all of you that don't get, being politically correct is more about sticking up for the people who's voices can't be heard. So as you sit there and laugh at the non-intellectual jokes that you come up with, or some pathetic one liners, think about that. Although you truly are a reflection of what this world has become, dip-shits that don't care about anyone but themselves.

Oct 23rd 2007 11:43AM I just thought it was in poor taste. I sincerely appreciate the benign humor that takes place on Engadget at times, but what if someone from China read this and saw that, or what about a Chinese-American?
@Luke - I have a great sense of humor, and I do find the post slightly funny, but as a human being with a conscience, I was not comfortable with the fact that the focal point of this post ended up being about this one comment. I personally feel that the post could have been a great one, especially with the significance of what it really means for both our countries, China and America. And at the end of the day I felt like I was reading a blog called Laughgadet, cause that is what the post ended up being, instead of informative, it became Engadget making a mockery of itself, which is a shame.
At least we are not censored by Brian Lamm, oh wait, the post was removed. I do appreciate that you have opened the comments back up, and it would be nice to have further information about this topic, because it could be significant.

Oct 23rd 2007 8:47AM "62 million simultaneous calls (for takeout?)"
I don't know if you guys know this, but this is a racist/prejudice statement, and not funny. I know you guys try your hardest to add slight wit to your stories, but this is really pathetic and you should be ashamed of writing that.

Oct 15th 2007 1:53PM The Exterminator = Chris Farley
I swear to god that I saw Chris Farley (god rest his soul) in that guy, he was hilarious, and I would love to see more of him in the future of the show, I think maybe there should be a termite problem and Larry should hire him and he hangs around a bit too often, sneaking around, smelling underwear, etc. Much better than the worker that spent time in the bathroom and Larry had a little encounter with him. Or when he bought weed from Hugo from LOST.
