"Well said. Reading the letter and the comments paint a picture where Motorola, and similar companies that are governed similarly, are worse than the terrorists that we hear about everyday"

I bet Osama reads his own e-mails. :P

"The iPhone is for a different market segment than WinMo phones."

I'm no iPhone zealot (I don't own one) but do you actually believe this to be true?

Go over to any WinMo fansite or forum and you'll see that people are swapping out their WinMo handsets for iPhones in their droves. I'm sick of seeing every second post saying "I thought I'd never leave WM but, after using the iPhone, I'm hooked". Shiny gadgets appeal to geeks no matter what logo is on the front.

With the SDK and ActiveSync support coming, the two markets are only going to cross further.
"CDMA is also Japan and S. Korea, both of whom know how to make a slick device."

Two problems:

- Not many people can read Korean/Japanese.
- Most Japanese handsets are VERY tightly locked down.
Japan uses a variety of technologies. The biggest network (60% market share) uses UMTS/HSDPA though.

Apple are releasing a new iPhone/iPod touch with 480x800 pixel screen and Flash support? Since when?
POSIX C is available on Symbian...
Nice to see the iPhone catching up with other phones.
Software Development Kit. It allows third parties to write software for a platform.

There's been SDKs for Symbian, WinMo, Palm, etc. for years.
I love how the patent system works. Basically, you can patent any idea - it doesn't matter whether the idea is already out there or totally batshit crazy.

The only time the validity is checked is when a case comes to court, thus costing everyone involved lots of time and money.

The Finns are too good at rally driving to wreck their super cars.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
