at first glance, i thought this was referring to a new contact lens that would allow a user to see further. that would be cool.
Maybe we should look at a graph showing the lifespan of connectivity solutions (usb, firewire, etc) vs. lifespan of physical media before making a decision. In other words, which lasts longer, connectivity or media? If connectivity does, you may as well just use an extra harddrive (external firewire, usb, flash, etc) for your backup storage instead of media that could more easily scratch, break or get misplaced. This could also keep you from having that silly floppy drive from collecting dust in your closet.
I don't think Apple should or ever will adopt an integrated Blu or HD drive. What's the point? With their strong push to online downloads (iTunes), streaming (Apple TV), and eventually online rentals (iTunes, again), there's absolutely no reason to support disc media. I wouldn't even be surprised if they drop their Superdrive just like they did with the floppy on the original iMac.
This is awesome. Imagine placing these outside a residential home that has a large yard. I'm sure owners would agree that hearing a warning signal when the potential intruder(s) first step foot on your lawn is much more advantageous than having the alarm only go off when they are already at your door. 60 seconds could easily mean the difference between life and death. ADT eat your heart out!
That WAS a great phone. *single tear*
thanks guys. i thought the flash was a given...i'm just so used to saying harddrive ;)
Anyone know how much harddrive space will be occupied by the OS? If I buy the 8GB model, will the OS take up some of that or is the capacity actually larger?
great idea!
pls- no references to physical ailments or amputees. Limb replacement is obviously a great thing...
I'm sick and tired of seeing all these human-modeled robots. If we as humans are so inefficient, as many futurists have pointed out, why do we continue to research and develop robots to mimic us? One of the best robots we currently have and take for granted is our printer, a machine that in no way resembles the physical human form. Let's grow up and start putting this research into more practical applications!!!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
