I have the Japanese version of the HDC-SD1 - which will be released here in the U.S. in March. Wow, great camera. I usually shoot with a Panasonic P2 and this camera, for its size and cost, rocks. Importing to Final Cut is a chore since Apple doesn't have AVCHD import capacity yet, however the camera has an HDMI connector and the Blackmagic card ($295) on the Mac works perfectly. You can import the footage as DVCPRO HD and go from there. Looks much better than the HDV footage I've shot. Great product for the money! When 720P AVCHD camera's come out, this will be the ultimate format (for a while).

"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
