I thought the SSDs in the iPod Touch would be more rugged than a standard hard drive. Oh well.

I'll put my vote in for LaCie, but I personally use a custom job, where you stick any size hard drive in. They're not perfect, especially since when I use USB on a laptop, I need two plugs. But the one I use matches my MBP nicely and it's cheaper than a pre-built one.
@Dave
Apple allows you to e-mail photos, this takes the place MMS. There are a million reasons for Apple to force you to do this instead of MMS. But there is not a doubt that they chose to do it this way because the benefits are greater than the costs.

Maybe they wanted to keep the phone plans simple. MMS could be more expensive for Apple or AT&T than using EDGE or 3G to send a photo. Maybe they're waiting to bring out Mobile Me so that you'll use that instead.

All the other phone companies are not Apple. They are based on the telco industry, not the computer industry. Apple chose to do this because Apple > Dave. And your opinion is definitely in the minority of people.
Pretty sure he means that they are just linking to external sites with very little original content.

Pretty sure that's what Engadget does.

Pretty sure Engadget should do whatever they want, cause no matter what they do, there'll be someone to complain.
and abolishing hunger.
By international does that mean there'll be UK and Australia Engadget aswell?

Love an Australian version.
Yay 3G iPhone for Aussies!!! I'll be interested to see the cost structure for the internet plans as wireless internet in Australia is currently very expensive.

Now I can upgrade to the new phone when I care to and have it on a legit network with fast 3G internet speeds. I've never had the internet in my pocket before.
This is a real cheap way to ask for advice. Shouldn't you use a forum for this kind of thing?

I'd be interested to know what a good GPS entails.
In Australia we get a text message when the kids are late to school, or if they didn't turn up.

It's supposed to improve child attendance rates.
Yeah go APC!!! You beat Engadget!!!
At the moment I am disgusted.

They need to upgrade that Extreme Base Station pronto.

Else, I will consider it a mark against their name. :-O
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
