"Dell is doing it customers a dis-service by selling them PCs with outdated OSes" it's not that dell cannot sell pcs with vista, because it does, it's that some people don't want it, and requested to be able to buy pcs with XP. Let alone people who want to buy notebook with linux that must buy windows licenses and never use it.
In my company some vista laptops came, and where soon reinstalled with XP by the owners themselves, because not only they could not access network resources, but they also broke networking on otherwise working XP pcs. Seems like that vistas were taking server tasks without first asking.
So what? Maybe I should "upgrade" all my pcs and servers to vista?? Buying half of them new because the current ones do not support it??
I don't think vista can be considered a success if some major pc vendors selling only vista pcs were forced to offer XP again because of customer complaints.
I'm not sure how much drag on cars will be added by such turbines, but it's sure some will. That's because the wind moved by the cars will be slowed down by the turbines, taking energy from it. So the same car, and the following, has a slower wind to move, so they need more fuel. That's thermodinamics as some said: you're transferring energy from the engine of the car to the turbines, not converting a pure wasting process like braking. Another interesting point someone raised is how high the turbines need to be, in order to let big trucks pass. So probably only big trucks will move the turbines, making them rotate only a fraction of the time.
since that "windmills" are running on cars generated wind, that's turning the car's gasoline into electricity. why? shouldn't we use cleaner energy sources? that "mills" will slow down the air over or at the side of cars, making them consume more gasoline. maybe I am missing something...
SSDs are optimized for distributing writes along the whole capacity, while I guess this device is not. So how long will a CF card last when used as a boot device? We would need a stress test before buying into this.
They removed the much beloved (at least by me) "menu" key... oh well they may have removed the whole menu! It's a S60! End of the psion heritage, folks!

"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
