Like many others i'm completely suprised they didn't recognise the most media hyped laptop on the market.
Its like if they stopped iphone users and said apple doesn't make phones, and this isn't a phone it doesn't have buttons!!
I mean how obivious is it that it was a laptop when they decided to look at it!!
I personally think this is just them being completely paranoid now.
A few years ago I was travelling round with my sony X505, I didn't have any problems at all.
is it just me or does the front bottom half of this comp look very much like the supposed XPS630 of what they show in the teaser??

plus nowhere on the "official" photos does it say XPS 730.....

I think this could be the XPS 630...
@ michael and jon
i think he must have been describing the MBA, but he forgot to also mention about the serious lack of ports.
If anyone is doing the copying its apple copying sony.

the MBA is essentially a sony x505 remade by apple with modern day specs, whiel they also sacraficed a lot while the x505 did not.

the macbook keyboard design is copied from the x505 for starters.
and at least the x505, had a removable battery, PCMICA slot, TWO usb ports, dedicated ports for a bundles optical drive, VGA and ethernet, so u don't have to go and take up the already precious usb ports.
on the x505 u can have ur optical drive plugged in, ethernet AND an external montior all plugged in and still have your two usb ports.

with the MBA? well the optical drive can only be used in that special high current usb port, and u need the usb for the ethernet dongle, oh and what u only have one? that just sucks then doesn't it?

and as for the all in one integrated motherboard, the x505's one is 3"x3" which is a heck of a lot smaller than the MBA.

also steve claims to have "innovated" remote disc, errrr no he didn't, its called sharing a drive over the network.
and at least in windows u can watch dvd's and u don;t have to ask for permission every time u want to access the disk.

I have to agree with nathan, especially since in the case of the MBA apple did not do much innovating and more coping.
yeah, i think so too how can you say a comp with 8600 be for ultimate gaming??

def a cool concept, although I would have to say the body does look very ugly, if he reshaped it and repositioned the buttons and the knobs so that they aren;t all clumped at the bottom.
A good mod, but also has room for improvement on the aesthetics side
where did they get the idea that it was a girl who did this? read his blog and you'll find that its a guy!! and where did they get the name SARAH from??

but a good mod never the less although i would have transplanted the logitech circuit into the sony heaphones, wearing tesco looking headphones just doesn;t cut it for me!
fools, the O2 iphone is connected to wifi, when ur connected to wifi the edge logo is overidden as the iphone will connect to the net using wifi. I'm using O2 with my unlocked iphone and the egde icons shows all the time, coz the iphone takes gprs as edge.
@ nikster
you're obviously one of those mac users who listen to what jobs says and holds onto it like the words of life. yes mac CLAIMS all programs are self contained with no registry files but that is not the case, they do have registry files (not as much as windows, but they still do have them), just totally hidden somewhere where you will never find. this is speaking from experience of trying to clean up programs which when i reinstall still has my settings and data from my previous install.
yeah i think engdaget got a bif confused, remember reading before that apple said iphone out in UK in time for christmas. end of calendar Q4.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
