Why now? Because these things take years to negotiate before they get to the point where one or both sides files a lawsuit.

Because you can output at full 1280x720 to an HDTV through the Dock.
So even though the Screen can't display 1280x720, you can play video at that resolution to an external device.
They're not trying to create new words, they're trying to define the computer specs that will qualify OEMs for Win 7 Starter Edition pricing.
They scatter from surfaces and objects. The Scatter effect of different materials is what makes Ray Tracing so life like.
Sure, if you set your regional settings to USA, create a US Live ID and buy US Points cards or us a US Credit Card.

That's hardly a path to market success. They actual marketplace needs to be available outside of the US without having to use workarounds like that. They've managed to get the XBox Marketplace (video/tv) outside of the US, they need to synchronize those efforts with the Zune Marketplace, and expand them around the world, or the platform is doomed to failure.
Zune Store outside of USA like, yesterday.
All this Zune focus is awesome, but right now, it's almost exclusively USA only, which is what's really killing the platform.

Expand the Zune Marketplace outside of the USA ASAP. They should have AT LEAST the same presence in countries around the world that the Xbox Marketplace does.

Anything less is p*ssing in the wind.
You're right! How dare the internal communications/media team work on a video to pump up the sales team. Clearly these camera and media wizards should be in there elbows deep hacking on the Vista Kernel!
Where do you jackoffs come from that seem to think that every single employee of microsoft is a developer, and that they are ALL working on the exact same thing, at the exact same time?
From the looks of it, it doesn't go on a toilet outlet anyway. But it would be useful for capturing otherwise wasted energy from showers/dishwashers/sinks at the very least.
Is that an oral, or rectal thermometer?
How about an External 2.5" HDD Enclosure to make up for the anemic 80GB HD? Ooops, can't do that, most 2.5" HDD's need more than 500ma, so they need 2 USB Ports to get sufficient power.

Apple knows this, because they've had to hack the MBAs external optical drive to get 1A of power from a single port, but I can guarantee you that it won't be available to any other device that needs more than 500ma.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
