Halo 3 video with X button footage -- Is Quisnam Protero Damno! {Joystiq}
Apr 10th 2007 3:23PM I think people have a huge misconception about what "Next Gen" consoles are supposed to do. They're looking for significant and noticeable leaps and bounds over graphical performance over the previous generation. Noting that this alpha-phase graphics aside, Next Gen consoles are more about how much crap can you fit into a game: larger levels, more things in each level, better AI, etc. To those who have complained about it looking like Halo 1/2/(being) 2.5, I have to say, did you actually watch the video? Look at the improvements over game play that were shown. They balanced out the cheap kills via Warthog by adding cheap kills via tripmine. They let you cover your ass when you can tell from where you're being shot by giving you a portable shield. To be honest, when a game developer from another company comes out and says, "Wow, those guys aren't doing anything original," then I'll validate that criticism. As you would note from the video, a lot of time and attention has been put into creating a game that FOLLOWS the other two whilst still maintaining a NEW quality to it.
GTAIV Trailer is Live 4 realz! {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Mar 29th 2007 8:22PM There was one thing that kinda worried me, the same thing that's bothered me since the rumors began of IV being set in NYC. It's not really enough to throw in landmarks - the Flatiron building, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge. They have to be given some sense of scale and scope. That's what makes New York interesting. I hope that, when you're in-game, standing at street level, you are blown away by how large the game is. I really hope they got that right. From the low number of pedestrians on the street in "Times Square," though, it looks like I might be disappointed by my hopes for that kind of scale.
Take-Two up for sale? {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Mar 19th 2007 12:53PM Actually, this situation is really occurring *because of* Jack Thompson. Or really, the people who listen to him. Unfortunately, TakeTwo didn't put up much of a fight around the time that Hot Coffee blew up. They denied wrongdoing, then pulled the game without saying, "This was botched." Jack and the Politicos won out in the end. It wasn't a good game with unfortunate secret content hidden away poorly on the disc (what it ACTUALLY was). No, to the media-watching public it was an *integrated* PART of the game, meant for release on the streets.
Never mind that to actually see this content on a console version of the game you would need a modified console (difficult or expensive for a 15-year old to accomplish). Or that it was really an exploited piece of functional but non-active code.
So, seriously, if you wanna drop blame for this situation, Jack and Co. were responsible for putting the heat on, but all they did was swiftboat the company. The real saboteurs were TakeTwo. If they'd properly defended themselves, the public response wouldn't have been such a backlash.
Video: Spider-Man 3 expands into underground {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Mar 15th 2007 1:41PM I'm actually really impressed. The station he goes into (13th St & 7th Ave) had the right train on that line (1 train). I guess sometimes it's not so hard for them to look on a subway map and get it right.
TMNT Arcade impressions: turtle power! {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Mar 14th 2007 4:53PM LOL, I got SOOOOOO frustrated at how many times I had to Continue. This game is harder than I remember it being.
But seriously, Shredder, who puts huge boulders in their secret base as a deterrent against an attack by a team of giant mutated turtles who are also ninjas? I mean, I would never think of that.
