don't they mean disguise, not disclose? and there's an "and" missing from the last sentence. didn't someone re-read that at least once before they posted it?
Yea, I know... but as far as I can tell that just isn't true without getting that Korean firmware loaded by [holding down a button resetting with a pin, plugging in the player, starting the updater, and continuing to hold down the same button for >30seconds until the updater starts working]. I tried that multiple times on 3 different computers, never with any luck. with so many weird instructions it's possible i just bollixed it up i suppose.

but yea, cnet's reviews and others mentioned its native UMS support... don't know if their early review models were international maybe?
by the by, if anyone can help me, please post back here or if you're feeling particularly benevolent you could email me at bruceii@cox.net and let me know how to actually get the firmware update to work or preferably get it workin UMS with a mac with no firmware-shenanigans. this player is everything that I want for everyday use, if only I could get it working. thanks

i tried geting it working with the Korean firmware, following two different sets of directions, neither produced results. I however, have NOT tried holding down record while connecting, it instructed me to do it while holding down Play.... hmm.... i want this to work with my Mac, so i wouldnt MIND flashing with korean firmware, but if there's a way to get it to connect UMS style without having to go borrow a PC to run the terrible .exe file, i'd like it. any suggestions, especially anyone in the US who's got some iteration of this player (512, 1gig, whatever) working with a mac?
and if only they would sell the native UMS version here in the states... GAA! it's such a perfect lil gadget except for it's MTPitude
well done, engadget.
I just picked up one of these, and it will not show up as a removeable drive on my powerbook G4... the LCD just says "MTP CONNECT" and then "CHARGING." I tried to flash the firmware (from a friends PC to run the update exe file) with the international version to enable UMS mode, but the instructions that come with it are translated korean, and nearly impossible. Can anyone who has had success with this player and a Mac, or successfully updated the firmware give me some step by step instructions? alternatively, can anyone recommend another direct-insert, UMS, FM, rechargeable flash player with and LCD? i want to be able to use it as a thumbdrive and also update podcasts with myPodder from other computers, so the shuffle is not an option (plus the shuffle sucks). wow, long post. thanks alot.

"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
