People who use cell phones (for ANY purpose) in performance venues are incosiderate and should have their phones confiscated. It is disrespectiful to fellow audience members, performers, and technical staff. If it is dark, it's dark for a reason. Gadgets should be OFF- not just on silent or airplane mode.

Excellent article... your father sounds like he was an amazing person; I am sorry for your loss.
When I went into my local Cingular store (about a text messaging related problem) i casually asked about the iPhone, and the guy behind the desk FREAKED OUT at me and practicly started yelling at me for even wanting it. He gave what seemed like made up prices and random connection speeds and tried to convince me that the phone was a going to be horrible.

It was quite strange, as he is a sales representative and should be encouraging me to BUY a very expensive piece of equiptment with expensive two year contract.

He also claimed to have used it... but why would the only sales guy in the smallest cingular store in the armpit of California have access to it? Such BS....

Soooo Odd..

"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
