This is useful, but whenever I send an email Gmail doesn't save a copy in my "Sent Messages" folder now...
Might want to note that this site can freeze your browser while it scans, as it did mine. I had to kill the process to get control back.
Trillian was popular ten years ago. It's so bloated and crippled (unless you pay for pro). Pidgin (www.pidgin.im) or Miranda (www.miranda-im.org) are far better options for multi-protocol support.
Much nicer than the old reader, but really only useful if you already subscribe to the physical paper. Paying $4 extra week is kinda silly.

I don't see how this is any different than tabs. Instead of having a horizontal tab bar, he wants to implement a vertical tab bar. The idea of frequently visited pages and such is nice, but it's nothing new. Firefox already has dynamic bookmarks.
Now Maxis might be able to produce something worthwhile instead of putting out trash like Spore.
Time Warner shouldn't have any problem with this blog discussing ad blocking. The number of readers of Download Squad is only a tiny fraction of the millions of internet users. 10-50k people who read about ad blocking will make no difference when compared to the vast majority who are content to leave the ads alone.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
