this would be really useful for outdoorsy types (who sometimes happen to be eco-freaks)
are residents of the district of columbia eligible?
haha, finally my school is in the news for reasons other than rape and alcohol poisoning!
just ditch the media player and sleep the entire flight. it'll make home seem less far away

benadryl is a great sleep aid, or if you're not into the pharmaceuticals, just stay up all night partying the night before.
I actually just went and bought this yesterday. After a day of using it, I have no complaints. It transitions from GSM/EDGE to basement lab wifi without a hitch, and the mp3 player works great once you figure out the controls (mute for play/pause, 6/4 for fwd/rev). This is basically everything I ever wanted from my original pearl, and it has succeeded in replacing both my ipod touch (which i never really got used to to begin with) and my pearl 8100.

the new browser is nice, too. it chokes on some pages still, but that's due to the BIS server preprocessing. all the stuff that worked with my old BB (google sync, facebook, etc) works with the new pearl 8120, and on top of that, RIM finally fixed bluetooth tethering with macs. it doesn't require power cycling the phone anymore and runs a lot faster and more reliably (i used to have problems connecting even after a power cycle on the 8100).

battery life seems weaker, but still enough to last through a day or two of heavy use (gsm/bt/wifi on, medium use of the mp3 player, low RF signal areas).
this was the last place i expected to see fanboyism. what happened to everyone hating their carrier? hell, i have t-mobile and i hate them. i hate them (slightly) LESS than cingular/vzw, but i still hate them.
The point of V2G technology isn't to use power generated by the gas engine. it's an extension of the plug-in hybrid concept, that lets you top off your prius's battery at night (when power is in excess) and use that on the road, or, with V2G, sell it back during the day to help balance the grid.

the problem is that right now with PG&E peak and off-peak power costs the same. this would only become a benefit if you paid less at night.
get a prepay plan. there's no economical way to use a monthly plan for this shit unless you're constantly receiving faxes
I've actually taken a class from this guy (Mohseni), and he showed us a video of a model sub that uses the technology. If you're curious as to how it works, head over to thinkgeek and grab yourself an Airzooka (http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/warfare/60b6/). It works off the exact same principle.

Just imagine miniatureized airzookas mounted along the sides of a sub, pushing out vortices to make small pulses of thrust, which is useful for docking.
actually, if you stare into an improperly shielded microwave, you can get cataracts and the like. 2.4 ghz is good for heating up the fluid in your eye's lens, which has no blood flow and thus no cooling system.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
