I use a Mac because they are stable, secure, elegant, and hold their value.
I don't think that its unreasonable for Palm to request this one issue not be openly discussed when they have made the rest of the phone completely and utterly hackable. They still have to pay lip service to Sprint and I think its noble of both Palm and the maintainers of these sites to come to a gentleman's agreement about a few closed door topics. When carrier exclusivity comes to an end I think that this will be a non-issue and the doors swung wide open but for now they need to tread lightly.
It's a nice piece of kit but unless you are performing CPU intensive tasks on a normal basis, its overkill. A few friends with Mac Pros have described "CPU cycle guilt" after taxing their system no more than 10% its potential in a given month. Here's hoping for the fabled Mac Semi-Pro.
Probably Ryan's mea culpa on the whole iPhone fiasco, it was well done. seriously
I'll take it!
I don't think that they would try to prevent ad-blocking extensions as it would give seasoned Firefox users a major reason not to convert. Just browsing some of the comment threads from the blogosphere today, lack of an extension API has to be the top criticism. Considering the lengths Google went to emphasize that Chrome isn't just a marketing tool for their services, I would be very surprised if they took an "anti ad-block" stance.
I had an LG CU500 for a while here in Austin, it led me to believe that the reception of the 3G iPhone would be a little bit better than it actually is. Pretty much anywhere indoors I get 1 to 0 bars of 3G service, outside seems to be the only place I can get semi-decent 3G reception. 3G is nice to have and I wish I could use it more places but that leads to my other big complaint, battery life. I want to have my cake and eat it too damnit!
One day I will win an Engadget contest; at least I keep telling myself that.
The fact of the matter is this, we don't know anything about these people or the situation surrounding what happened. All I know is I just saw a kid's heart break on Christmas and thats f-ed up in my book. Ryan, it is awesome of you to try to hook this kid up and its another reason for me to love Engadget.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
