One of the first things I did when I got my stand mixer was make marshmallows. They taste nothing like store bought marshmallows (a good thing in my opinion). They're easy to make in a big batch, and people of all ages love them. The most common reaction is, "You can make marshmallows?!" I use Alton Brown's recipe btw.
I understand why they chose Melissa. Though I think she is less talented than Jeffrey, she probably appeals to a larger percentage of FN's customer base, and her concept is marketable. It's also pretty dull in my opinion. I've seen shows that address what Melissa is trying to accomplish, and the internet is flooded with recipes that do just this.

Personally, I like Jeffrey's concept and even the title, 'Ingredient Smuggler'. I don't think it was really intended to suggest that one should go to foreign countries and illegally smuggle ingredients. Can I go down to Wal-Mart and purchase harissa? Probably not. A simple amazon search turns up several options though, so it's not as if it isn't accessible. I guess I'm in the minority here, but I was looking forward to Jeffrey's show and have no interest in Melissa's. I hope FN finds a place for him!
Nice Ferris Bueller reference.
I just wanted to drop in and say thanks for the tea posts. I can't get enough info about tea. Keep up the good work!
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
I don't care much for Poehler. I know that she has her share of fans, but I can't imagine how someone could tolerate her on a weekly basis. Of course I also think a spin-off is just a crappy way for NBC to cash in on a great show, so maybe Poehler is perfect!
I noticed that as well. I'm not sure why they took a system that worked just fine and changed it to something that takes longer to decipher. It's like switching from Mac to Windows. Haha. In all seriousness though, I love Wimbledon and the ESPN coverage is pretty good, but that scoreboard has got to go.
I really hate NBC.
Eckre, are you joking?
I didn't say I was perfect, but I'm certainly not a prostitute, and I think it's a sad world where a prostitute gets the attention and money she is receiving. You don't have to agree with me, Jim J., but it would be nice if you didn't resort to petty name-calling.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
