.NASA has been planning for commercial ISS cargo services since it was decided the shuttle will be retired. I don't see why people are making jokes over this it's the best story to come across engadget in a long time. This is big news for commercial spaceflight and vindicates it. If this works out it will pave the way for lower cost spaceflight which could very well turn out to be one of the most important advancements of the 21st century. BTW Orbital has a lot of experience and has launched over 90 satellites. Spacex has designed the first new LV in the US since the EELVs and the first all new LV since the 80s. Falcon never had any spectacular failures like Atlas and Soyuz did during their development just mostly minor bugs which is part of the process of designing a new vehicle. Most of the bugs were guidance software related and not due to the Merlin engine which has proven to be very reliable.
It's bad engineering the device could have had a clutch that would limit the force or a shut off. It's products like these that keep people like Ralph Nader employed. Sorry but I can't cut them any slack here something like a foot messager should not be capable of killing someone. BTW it was a simple cloth cover she removed the machine could become dangerous if said cover were to simply become worn out. So this cannot be compared to misusing a blender this is one company that deserves whatever laws suits come it's way.
True they tend to spin this stuff to make it as creepy as possible but I still do not like Dr. F. Krueger's view he wishes to abuse this technology if it ever could be used in such a manner.
This project should be terminated since there are some things society just is not ready for. Better yet make the head researcher disappear from the universe.
We need to boycott this shit just say no to DRM they have forced their will on us for too long it's time to fight back. DRM does not work it just annoys users and forces them to become pirates as thats the only way they can enjoy content free of annoyances. HDCP for example is a broken piece of crap that often fails more then it works. I am just sick and tired of crappywood trying to put drm in my hardware it's total BS. As far as I'm concerned hollywood can go bankrupt it would be the best thing to happen in a long time.
Actually IC engines are allowed to operate inside buildings if they are fueled with propane as this produces little CO. Though a hydrogen peroxide monopropellant APU a device very similar to what powers the hydraulic systems on the space shuttle could be another power source to be used that would be much cleaner it by products are nothing more then steam and O2 yet still offer great power density and easy refueling. It's main use would be loading stuff etc vs the battle field. Also soldiers are often over loaded on the battle field being forced to carry more and more and this could help them.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
