Fanswag: Get a copy of No More Heroes on us {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}
May 8th 2008 8:11AM I had an apartment years ago that came with an old washer and dryer set. When the washer broke down, I paid a repairman to come in and replace the broken bits, since my lease said I could deduct any repairs like that from next month's rent. My landlord tried to weasel out of it, figuring that I'd just eat the $50 and be done with it.
I told him I'd be ok with that, but when I moved out I was taking the $50 part out of the washer with me. When he protested that I wouldn't have any use for it, I told him he was right-but I'd put it under glass and put it on my coffee table just to make sure he'd be out $50 too. And so he caved.
Moral of the story-never underestimate what I'll do for spite. :)

May 7th 2008 8:01AM When I was in kindergarten I used to get mad because the kids that walked home got to leave 5 minutes before those of us that took the bus. So one day I decided I'd walk home. I got the first two blocks ok, but things got a little fuzzy after that. Ended up wandering around in the graveyard until a teacher noticed me and called my folks.

Apr 26th 2008 9:22AM Although conventional wisdom holds that in the early days of cinema that animals were often mistreated, the truth is that they were held in higher regard than the actors. This was due in no small part to the fact that animals were owned by contractors to the studios-their livelihoods depended on keeping their animals well kept. In contrast, actors were typically the property of the studios themselves and were easily replaced when they were injured/killed.

Apr 25th 2008 7:49AM In the movie "Super Size Me," writer/producer/star Morgan Spurlock was initially unhappy with the slow pace of deterioration he was experiencing, and so for dramatic purposes began using a form of accelerated life testing to speed up his decline. Among other things, this included sleeping in a hypobaric chamber and using a hypodermic needle to inject fudge into his burgers.

Apr 24th 2008 8:04AM During WWII, movie studios had an increasingly difficult time finding not just men (off fighting somewhere) but women as well (off making shells somewhere) for their productions. As a result, most movies of the time were actually shot in neutral countries that weren't otherwise engaged with the war, Ireland being the most popular choice.

Apr 23rd 2008 3:59PM Blanks weren't invented until 1973. Until then, real live ammunition was used. Snipers used to be in very high demand, to make sure the bullets got close to the actors, but not that close.
