These are the box arts of Star Trek Online {Massively}

Nov 16th 2009 6:57PM You guys are starting to seriously overhype this game, is it *that* bad?

Developer communication as it affects games {Massively}

Nov 16th 2009 8:59AM NCsoft is pissing me off to no end these days, precisely because they're refusing to talk to their paying customers when it comes to anything else than carefully-crafted PR bullshit.

I can deal with issues when a game just launched, I don't care if it takes another 3 months for some things to be fixed, but come on, just say something already. Pretending the issues aren't there, aren't major and that you aren't losing customers because of them is not helping you (more like you're repeatedly shooting yourself in the foot).

WRUP: Fresh guts roasting on an open fire {Massively}

Nov 15th 2009 10:28AM I'm so very, very bored with current MMOs, but I think it's my fault more than anything else, I try out every EQ-style title that comes out.

Fantasy-style games, yuck; WoW and WAR and LotRO and Aion and all the other clones are fine games, but the genre is so completely overdone (oh and Aion keeps crashing in PvP anyway). I also played WoW for 4 years+, I'm sick of it.

I like Eve, but I've been playing on and off since 2003, so it lacks a bit of that shiny new factor.

CO doesn't interest me, probably because my first impression is that it's CoH 2 (which I played, which was fine back in the day, but that's it).

I haven't tried Fallen Earth, might look into that.

Or not, maybe I'll just take a long break away from MMOs in general. Wake me up when something fresh comes out.

One year of Wrath {WoW}

Nov 14th 2009 11:26PM I remember how much fun I had on the first day, all new quests and environments, I didn't know my way around and I found it very refreshing, just like the day BC came out. If the memories are always comforting, I can't exactly forget one of the biggest fails of this expansion either; the first 4-5 months of Wintergrasp were unplayable, it also lagged the rest of the continent for everyone.

Ulduar picked it up, vast and amazing instance, great content design there (ok I'm not a fan of vehicle fights, but still), which was followed by the lackluster ToC stuff (too short for my personal taste, but I understand how it fits in really well for some others).

I've kept myself off the 3.3 PTR and haven't followed MMO-Champion's numerous posts about the fights and loot in Icecrown, I don't want to ruin it for myself.

Here's to another year, keep up the good work!

NCSoft asks Aion players to fly their fan flags in public {Massively}

Nov 14th 2009 8:17PM Given my current grips with NCsoft and their complete inability to show any sort of respect for their paying customers, I'd gladly flip Ayase and Tamat the bird in public. Hell, I think I'd go as far as throwing rotten tomatoes at them.

Nov 10th 2009 10:33PM Nice, but do fix the stability and bot issues first; no one cares that much about a couple of dyes, this ain't WoW.

Nov 7th 2009 10:59PM Shouldn't you be on wowinsider.com bragging about how hardcore you are at a carebear game?

Nov 7th 2009 6:36PM Nevermind, I apparently can't read; the backdoor link works fine.

Aion grips top ten digital sales charts a month past release {Massively}

Nov 7th 2009 12:26PM I give it a solid 7 so far (been playing since the head start); there's a lot of untapped potential, so I assume content/gameplay-wise things will only get better with time.

Yes it is on the grindy side, but I don't mind it personally; since I play casually and am taking my sweet-a** time (I'm only lv28), I can only assume that some people who just want to reach cap level ASAP find Aion to be like a second job.

The abilities are cool, the crafting is pretty sweet (non-epic craftable armor/weapons that are useful for leveling? check), the graphics are beautiful even on a non top-edge system.

However I can't forget there are some major issues like the client stability and bot problems - they make me lower my personal mark. Mass PvP is unplayable due to the crysystem.dll crash issue; that's a pretty big one given that PvP is supposed to be at the center of the game. Also, tons of botters and gold sellers everywhere; NCsoft has started taking action against them, but there's still a lot of work to do.
