I own a kindle DX and use it primarily for academic purposes.
"This could lead to such sexy contrivances as refrigerators that wait until off-peak hours to run the automatic defrost cycle"

Yeah, 'cause a $2 clock/timer added to an existing fridge couldn't do the same thing.
Actually, it is available in the US, and it is $400. Search for Shuttle D10 on Newegg.
A lot of people wonder the same thing, but there are apparently tons of people who want them. I have no need for a fully capable laptop, since I have two desktops and home and two at work. I rarely travel, and when I do, I don't really need to do any work, so a netbook is a perfect little light, small unobtrusive computer that I can take along on a trip.
Um, 5.26 pounds? What kind of ultraportable is that? I'll stick with an Eee.
SP1 works fine for me -- and I have NVIDIA cards and a separate soundblaster card. My settings on the sound card reset when I installed the SP, but they seem to be working fine now. Overall, I think the system is ever so slightly more responsive, but that could be my imagination.
I'll bet there isn't actually a shock. It is pretty hard to convince a review board to allow you to deliver a real electric shock.
I believe that $1600 includes the 28-135IS lens, primarily because the bodies of the 10D/20D/30D/40D have been getting cheaper with each release, and $1600 is quite pricey. It makes sense that this particular kit includes an $400 lens instead of the cheapo 18-55 lens.

Plus, we should all consider that this is just Best Buy forcing customers to buy an expensive lens if they want the camera. The "official" kit lens could still be the 18-55.
I think most of the current dual-layer discs are single-write and not RW.
I can't wait to one-up my blackberry-carrying friends.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
