I used to think: How can anyone in their right mind use webmail instead of a proper desktop email client? There's no way you can get the same experience through webmail than you do through Eudora/Mail.app/Outlook/whatever.

Lo and behold, a lot of people, I'd say a majority of people now use webmail rather than a proper dedicated desktop email application. Convenience is king.

I think Google is banking on the same thing happening for other applications: Photo management, music jukeboxes, office applications, etc. They themselves provide a lot of these applications.

Sure, some people still need to run Photoshop or FinalCut, or need to compose and edit music in their computer. But the fact is that a lot of people will be happy with ChromeOS.
Yeah, it had a lead-acid battery. Like your car I think.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
The lack of camera on the iPod touch means that third-party developers need to think harder about spending much time making features that use the camera: Only iPhone users can take advantage of it.

Apple already added a speaker and sound in to the iPod touch. All iPod touches and iPhones have the same screen size, roughly the same capabilites, and can all run the same OS. The next step is the camera. I believe the rumors about engineering problems are probably the true reason why the iPod touch does not have a camera.
So what?
Not saying the video is real... but it's not 1-to-1 motion, it's just the accelerometer data. So it could be done.
The "proprietary chip" is not DRM, it's just an IC that encodes the commands into the microphone pin. I'm sure it can easily be reverse-engineered, it's just probably not the effort.
I may be alone here, but the jokes about robots taking over the world and the LHC destroying the world are getting very tired.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
