Well, Steve, he pretty clearly said that MOST American cars suck. And he's right.

Of course, most cars suck in one way or another, but I tend to agree that American cars exhibit above-average suckage. But they are sucking less, which is good. Their corporate structure, however, has and continues to suck.
Why would anybody flame you? There are more Mazdas road racing than just about any other make out there.
Gosh, I wonder if they anticipated that, and locked in long-term contracts with their suppliers?

Nah. Probably not.
Umm..because Maserati just started selling cars in the US again a few years ago? That could be it.
"It is just folded aluminum, inexpensive extrusions, fiberglass, rivets and glue. "

Spoken like somebody who's never had to buy tooling for an industrial application.

I wish I could have a car company as "irrelevant" as Lotus.
I'm fascinated by people who think this.

Lots of airplanes nowadays are fly-by-wire...same idea. What "control" do you want, that is not enhanced by properly-designed command systems?

You push the throttle, car goes faster. You're in control. Hit the brake, car goes slower. Still in control.

Now, a BAD system of driver aids would be...well, bad. But fly-by-wire is pretty well-proven tech nowadays...

I suppose some people aren't going to be happy unless they're tuning a carburetor. More power to you! That's great! But to ding a car because it's got an advanced ECU is silly.

When was the last time you had to adjust the spark or the choke on your car?
I'm glad Nastinupe isn't a sports car designer. Somebody would have to explain "polar moment of inertia" to him, and his brain might asplode.
"long in the tooth"? What chassis outperforms the Elise?

Hell, the Lotus Seven will still blow the doors off of a lot of cars, and it's, what? Fifty years old?
I guess that's the difference. Some people want a fast car. Some people want to feel special about their badge.

Good thing there are lots of sports cars out there!
No, you want to go with a man...or a dragon man...or just a dragon for maximum burnination.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
