I wanted HD=DVD to win but was never able to find hardware e.g.HD-DVD writer etc. My son's bought a PS3 (excellent media centre) and we had Blu-Ray by default. I was then able to buy a 'cheap' LG GGW-HL20 Blu-Ray writer (HD-DVD reader) and by default became a Blu-Ray person instead of HD-DVD. I constantly searched for equipment but couldn't get any. I was on holiday in San Fransisco and scoured the PC Shelves for an internal writer but found none.

TOSHIBA GOT IT WRONG! They said how good it was, how easy it was to manufacture as it was so like DVD - BUT NEVER PRODUCED THE GOODS! Blu-Ray said theirs was better and produced the goods. Toshiba let us early adopters down and so dug their own grave.
WoW! Next the TV manufacturers will want a slice of advertising revenue as will the manufacturers of radios. Oh! and MP3, CD Player manufactures will want a slice of performers royalties. Rock on! the troughs big enough!
has anyody really looked and listened to the improvements. Well I have. The upscaling of DVD on a HD set really rocks. There is more perceived detail and more vibrant colours. The sound streamed to my Suround sound system is fantastic! Thanks Sony. I paid through the nose (UK) but now at least the PS3 is looking much better value.
Well, well, well! Sony are sticking it to us again. I have preordered a PS3 for 24th March, paid £50 deposit ($100) for a machine I had read the specs of (USA & JAPAN) but am potentially ending up with an inferior machine. I think it is time to cancel the pre-order, retrieve my deposit and wait and see the reviews (instead of making the review). Sony - you suck!!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
