An Open Facebook API vs Google OpenSocial {Blog Maverick}

Nov 4th 2007 2:18PM Mark,
You are so very right about facebook and the value of my profile data. I am who I say I am. My connections are primarily with people I know in the real world. It is the point of gravity that connects all of us. The value of the network increases as more of my friends join facebook. No reason to leave.

Since facebook hass all of this data that I have willingly given them does allow them to do some very compelling ad serving that is much more customized. I look forward to seeing what they anojunce tuesday. I suspect that in the near future we will see some interesting new ad types and ways of automatically having my experience tailered to my preferences (behaviors).

You are spot on as to why OpenSocial is not really a threat. It is worthy to note that OpenSocial is under the hood and not a destination site so only us geeks know anything about it. Consumers could care less.

Cheers!

Facebook users fight back against new Facebook applications {Download Squad}

Jun 20th 2007 8:02PM Interesting to hear 2 different takes on the facebook issue.

Some of the new apps are not very useful at all. Some are very useful. We are trying to filter out the garbage and review and rate these new applications so that people can make informed choices for which applications to use on facebook.

AccuQuoteblog.com is celebrating its one year anniversary! {Accuquote Blog}

Jun 20th 2007 2:35PM Nice Blog Team! Well executed and good interaction with your readers. Way to go. Keep up the good work here.

Sean, Denise and Byron....The question you have to ask yourself now is.... how come we are not on facebook. How can we create a useful application for the almost 30 million facebook users?

p.s. You have an opportunity on facebook that is unlike anything you have seen before to reach consumers and embrace word of mouth marketing and branding in a way that was never before possible (facebook just opened it's platform to outside apps).

Feel free to reach out if you need some guidance.

Cheers

Apple about to announce wireless video iPod? {Engadget}

Oct 10th 2006 4:43PM This is long overdue and we think that there is some credence to this rumor. Why would apple come out with movies on itunes if the did not plan on having the device to watch it on?

Apple always does it from end to end in a lifestyle fashion so this makes sence to me. You can see a ton of ipod concept images and slideshows on our blog at http://www.newmediagulp.com

Record-setting Real Estate in Hawaii {Luxist}

Aug 2nd 2006 5:24PM Money is a relative thing. The property is worth it if that is what the buyer desired to purchase. Come on, 255 feet of beach and spectacular living quarters... that is a dream!

In san diego where I live, you can spend 20 million for an ocean front home and not have that sort of footage or privacy or living space.

So in my eyes it was probably well worth it.

Diggnation: Why we Digg it so much {Droxy (Digital Radio)}

Aug 16th 2005 8:13PM OK. These guys are just great. The content is relevant (most of the time)... They add a nice personal touch to the video podcasts and they are hysterical and entertaining. The is the beginning of what video podcasting (vlogging,videoblogging, etc..) can be...niche market shows that hit the target markets, drive traffic, increase loyalty and deliver great content. No wonder the major media (radio & TV) are freaked out about podcasting. They can't control it. ;) When a couple of guys drinking beer and talking about the most dugg stories can suck me into giving them 20 minutes of my 18 hour day schedule to watch the weekly videos; it shows how compelling this new media format is. Now just imagine how they can grow an even more loyal (and larger) audience to the digg site with this compelling video podcast. This is brilliant stuff and my hat is off to these guys for realizing the marketing power of podcasting...all the stuffed media shirts will take about 18 months to get their head around this stuff. Great job guys! Digg on! Rodney Rumford founder http://www.podblaze.com
