Are DVRs actually going to save the network TV model? {Engadget}

Nov 2nd 2009 10:36PM There are no commercials with my DVR. It takes them out automatically.

Tesla Roadster keeps on rollin', goes 313 miles on single charge {Engadget}

Oct 31st 2009 3:17PM Yeah, because there is no quick way to get around Paris and not have to worry about finding parking spots.

And it doesn't take two days to recharge. Even then, spending two days in Paris isn't too much of a problem.

Oct 31st 2009 3:13PM That is what I was thinking. Then again, if you are in the middle of nowhere in the Outback, you can pull over to whatever side of the road you want.

And I am waiting for new developments in the battery/energy storage industry. That is the only thing really holding EV cars back.

FCC keen on commandeering TV spectrum for wireless broadband {Engadget}

Oct 28th 2009 12:42PM I like OTA HDTV as well. There is no way I would pay the cable/satellite companies a dime.

Now, if they offered free Internet vs free TV, that would be a tough choice. I can download the TV shows I currently watch... And the FCC wouldn't be able to regulate/censor TV and movies on-line. Then again, I don't have to worry about getting the OTA shows I watch tracked.

Borders pulls a B&N, offers free WiFi to all patrons {Engadget}

Sep 30th 2009 7:37PM I only use free wifi. It saves me $480 a year ($40/month).

I just download a bunch of webpages on my laptop and then take it home to read. Or I pre-write e-mails at home and then when I am connected I send a bunch at once. iTunes will sync all of the podcasts when it is connected automatically as well.

Apple tablet rumors redux: 10.7-inch display, iPhone OS underneath {Engadget}

Sep 29th 2009 10:40AM B&H photo and Adorama have good camera stores in the NYC area. I've never been there, but have ordered camera equipment from them before.

SolarCity charging stations on Highway 101 give Tesla owners a little more time in the sun {Engadget}

Sep 25th 2009 1:51PM Mining and enriching the fuel is currently the problem with nuclear. Maybe we can outsource our enrichment to Iran so we don't have to worry about the environmental problems that come from the process.

I'm not saying that it is bad, it just needs to be addressed like the re-processing of spent fuel and alternative reactor designs have been.

But a smart grid with millions of variable renewable power sources spread out across the country is the way to go eventually.

AT&T, Verizon poised to fight FCC's net neutrality stance on the wireless front {Engadget}

Sep 22nd 2009 3:37PM A busy network will have different speeds throughout the day and night. Bandwidth throttling will cap your speed at a set amount and the traffic graph will look flat. Although non-throttled services will be very fast.

iriver NV mini bike edition routes two-wheeled warriors {Engadget}

Sep 21st 2009 2:44PM It looks like it does.

From the Read link:
"The iriver NV mini bike edition is a sliced-down version of their NV classic, keeping the touchscreen, GPS and media playback but dropping the integrated DMB TV tuner."

The blurb on Engadget should have mentioned it.

I will be buying one when I can get it here in the states.

Toshiba dynadock wireless U puts wireless USB to good use at last {Engadget}

Sep 18th 2009 3:07PM Does wireless USB work through walls yet? I want to 'dock' my in-car mp3 player when I drive into my garage with my laptop upstairs. It's one of the only ways of doing wireless docking of the iPod at this time. (the other is to have a laptop in the car and sync the two laptops over wifi).

(I haven't looked at Bluetooth since OS 3 came out, I'll have to do that first.)
