We should also remind people that the core iPhone hardware (CPU, GPU, and RAM amount) is at LEAST two years old (even the 3G) so I do expect some updates on that front. However, it goes to show you that competition IS good for the market and the Palm Pre is about to make the cell phone game a LOT more interesting!
What I don't understand is that if .mkvs are just a container, it really doesn't MATTER whether Windows can play them or not since the underlying data should be easily playable, especially since there's a built-in H.264 decoder in the OS now.
Is Microsoft actually suggesting we pirate "Battlestar Galactica.mkv"?
Meh, $1 more for the 1-at-a-time plan really isn't going to hurt the wallet.
Does this mean Comcast is going to dump it's shitty, non-HD DVR software or not? =/
Possibly because the Ferrari could fail mechanically at any time while driving if you're not careful. Would you drive such a car?
Download of the 3.0 beta 2 SDK has slowed a trickle. Sigh.
Cheaper to buy stuff for yourself, plus no Windows XP licensing restrictions on hardware (1GB RAM & 160GB hard drive limits).
Any word on audio? Last I heard, new Macs don't output audio using miniDisplayPort even though they could!
Still waiting for:

Built-in TV Tuner - for Windows Media Center on the go!
Built-in GPS - the future is in location-aware services
2GB RAM - I'd really want 4GB of RAM, but 2GB is fine (and yes, I realize that 4GB is overkill for a netbook, but RAM is cheap, so why not?)
nVidia Geforce 9400M - Windows Vista/7 really sucks without it. Windows XP is showing it's age. Sticking with gimp Intel integrated graphics just doesn't appeal to me.

All for $500-$600

Then I'll take the plunge. Until then, I'll be content with what I have (realizing, it could be years before all of those are fulfilled)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
