Did I miss something? WHY even debate this?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH GAS?
"big screen, a four-color palette, and `you can get everything there`."

A COMPUTER?

Why is everybody such a goddamn idiot these days?

Jesus christ, Murdoch.
Judging by the abundance of mysterious "iphone" user agent generated caches with non-standard ~213 pixel screens, Apple will indeed be releasing a smaller iphone soon. Testing appears to be in progress or something...
Did I just wake up in 2004?
Where did this phone come from? And Why?
shucks, gas-burning cars are still cheaper and faster than coal/nuclear-power-plant charged battery cars, maybe that had something to do with the fiasco.
It may have been ahead of its time on Dec. 2, 2001, but it's not ahead of its time now. DSPs and FPGAs are now cheap and are commonly-used for motor and motion control now. And Lithium ion battery pack prices have also dropped dramatically.

Sorry folks, this product is not ahead of its time. It's just simply WAY overpiced. Not unlike other vehicles these days, actually, whose makers are also experiencing anxiety.
Um, shouldn't you be on a bridge somewhere?
Oh... I don't know, maybe Dean Kamen could....

LOWER THE DAMN PRICE!!

It's been 8 years already. Why does this plastic scooter still cost more than $1,000?
These people need to be put down.
Steve Jobs gets THINNER, meanwhile the iPhone just gets THICKER. Wonderful.

But since I have everybody's attention, I have another question.

APPLE: Where the heck is OLED?

Why can't you make the iPhone thinner, more rugged, longer-lasting-per-charge, and more vivid by implementing an OLED display?

What is slowing you down, here? Pixel denisty? Why not speak up so the market can at least try to solve your problem before yet another THICK iphone is released? If it isn't OLED pixel density which is slowing you down, surely then it's not the limited life expectancy of OLED displays which worries you, given that your batteries only last 2-3 years?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
