Too bad this is the shining point of M-B's vehicles. The "Distronic" system is infamously known to fail, as seen on a downloadable video if one digs well enough.
I wonder how Yugo and Daewoo owners felt; by the way, does GM offer parts and service to Daewoos? (just being curious).

Even though I like the AMX, I don't think anyone grieved when AMC had an partnership with Renault to build Alliances in the States. Maybe also because they used GM engines in 1984-1986 Jeep Cherokees before going "in-house" in 1987 (not sure if that was after the Chrysler buyout, someone fill that in).

Back in the 80s, American electronics manufacturers like Zenith (before being absorbed by LG in the mid 1990s) had a difficult time catching up with Japanese manufacturers - especially with redesigning television chassis' to lower costs and improve reliabilty, and investing in money-losing markets (Heathkit, etc.); even though some cutting-edge options were designed in America.
The Rio PMP300 helped shake the music industry, the iPod became the product of the music industry (along with good marketing), the Rio PMP300 should have had a significantly higher rating.

And the RAZR is a pathetic phone, especially for its sparse features and negotiable style, although I like the "knockoffs"; but the slim phone may help the mobile phone industry, but no way of revolutionizing it.

By the way, the NES saved the North American video gaming industry, such an omission from any list is ignorance on the editor's part.
One major advice for Mr. Stringer, improve reliability in your division's products. Don't look for a stake in the television market share, strive to be the best. [yeah, that sounds very corny, but it sure would help]
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
