How about the Acer Aspire 4810T or its replacement

Intel 1.4Ghz CULV processor, win 7, 320 gb HD, 4 gb ram, dvd/cd writer, intel 4800MHD graphics, 14" LED screen, and 8 hour batt life. Its thin and light too.

Great computer. Even runs youtube HD fine (usually).
Bought it in October at 550. I'm sure it or its replacement is much cheaper now.
@seltzered

Strange I also have a 9300... and my hard drive has held up perfectly over the past 5 (is it 6 now?) years. The thing has taken quite a licking and just keeps on ticking. I use it everyday pretty much all the time too, banging it into walls while moving it (it was rather LARGE afterall) and not a problem at all. Currently dual-booting XP and win 7.

The batteries and chargers on the otherhand are a different story. The batteries don't last 5 minutes so it's basically a portable desktop. And i've had to buy 2 new chargers because they eventually don't report to the computer correctly and give an error saying that the computer will run with a lower processor speed. Very annoying.

That being said, it still runs fast and smooth, great computer.

I like him too. It's happy music. Turns your frown upside down!

My dad has us on a Verizon family plan and I'm quite pleased :P

Go dad! You rock!

Dude keep it!

The only thing that will come close to the Droid is the Bravo which wont be out till April. And even then it will have similar performance to the Droid. Why wait 5 months when you have something just as good now? Not to mention have to pay more.

I'm getting my droid next week. Dell mobility has it on sale for 120.

You cant do better than that! And it applies for existing customers of VZW too!

Verizon said that the Droid Eris will be getting the android 2.0 upgrade.

I submitted this and another story (about how AT&T came last in consumer reports huge poll) to engadget but they refuse to post my stories for some reason.

I bet alot of people would like to know that the Droid Eris will be getting the android 2.0 upgrade.

And when it does, these phones wont be very different from it. So why wait?
@Evan

If you had watched the video you would've seen that it is completely detachable.

Engadget should've made that more clear in the post.
Wow I used to have that phone a few years ago. The motorola A630 I believe. It was a great little phone. So tiny yet packed a full keyboard on the inside and another numeric keypad on the outside. It was really well built too. Still have it tucked away somewhere and it works perfectly.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
