re 'bugger', if you're trying to sound English, you need to say 'little bugger', makes it sound more playful and less... well, buggery based.
Seriously, how does that look ugly. It doesn't. It totally fits Apple's aesthetic language.
And since when does Apple copy mock-ups?
jeez
well, it would be a more powerful device. maybe proper osx - snow leopard is meant to be cleaned up and efficient.
great for movies - remote control - great in-car gps - i could see a magnetically attached keyboard working.
might introduce ichat video conf on it too. the apps could be higher value stuff - 16 track audio recorders etc...

well worth the extra...
I think apple can do this for an attractive price.

If you look at shrinking a macbook, it looks tricky. If you imagine enlarging an iPod touch it seems pretty easy.
Top end touch is $399 - imagine 3 vertical touches together, that's about a 7" screen - some clever blutooth keyboard
as an option - iPhone tethering for free. Wifi etc, gps. Tweaked sdk for extra pixels - open up a new app store, easy!

Surely doable for $599 - $799...

.. I'd pay that!
surely it's 'horn-rimmed' not 'horned-rimmed'!!!

chick.
i think they're almost using it correctly - in a colloquial English kinda way - but it really needs to be 'this LITTLE bugger', or possibly 'BIG bugger' - and yes, it has offensive origins - i think everyone knows that
Of course it will have a front facing camera! - jeez... Almost all 3g phones have video call capability. It seems things are a bit slow in the US re mobiles. We've had video calls since 2003 in the UK - it would be comical if they didn't include it. Apple needs to make the link to PCs with cameras to make mobile video calling kick off.

And please put a flash or light on it! - why not the logo?.. little apple hi-light reflected in peoples eyes would be cute!..
if the first post said it look great, would you bunch of sheep all agree?

It obviously looks very plausible and very attractive - what's ugly, really!?
this is such an inevitable design, surely no lawsuits? It's the design I've been doodling in the back of all my layout pads for years (even down to reorientating the screen when the device is turned). Why have buttons when a touch-screen could be so good for input (and visual output) - especially if most your dialling is from your address book...
x, y, z and t (time) - that's more than 3...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
