Hey, Gus, I do the exact same thing. And I have even found a few I like. I also use it to Thumbs Up a bunch of kid shows, then put them in KidZone. That way they aren't crowding up my Now Playing list and the kids can get 'em when they want 'em.

I'm with ya, James! Tried the Cox box for a year after having TiVo for 3 years before. Cox jacked up my "service & rental" fees to almost $20 a month.

So, I took TiVo's offer to previous members for $100 off lifetime and bought the XL HD. Holy crap, what a difference. Yeah, it cost me $900 bucks, but I'm don't have to pay Cox for a supremely inferior POS.

My wife and kids are much happier as am I. Best money I ever spent (almost).

I've got to agree with most here...

$35/mo? I only pay $30/mo for a real, fully loaded actual land line. My cell service in my house is very poor at best. My neighborhood is older with lots of large trees, etc. and makes for an almost dead zone. That's why I have a land line.

I haven't decided which industry is the crappiest; the Mobile industry, the Credit Card industry or the "Health" industry. Sorry, tangent thought.

I have an dual tuner TiVo that is $12.95/mo (Box was $199, I think). Had it for about 2 years. I've had a Cox HD DVR since Jan. 08 and I pay them $5.25 for "DVR Service" and $11.25 to rent the box. That's $16.50. And that rate just keeps going up, it started at around $8. As soon as I get the money for one of these new TiVo HD boxes, I'll get it with a lifetime subscription, which is $299 for me. That's only 18 months for a return on investment.

And TiVo is soooooooo much better for soooooo many reasons.

TiVo rules. It sucks to have all the direct marketing, but I guess its just as easy to tune out as all the other crap.

I've been with TiVo since 2002 and have endured their seeming servility to the advertisers. But I look at it as TiVo letting me watch TV the way I want to. My Cox HD DVR is buggy, poorly implemented and ridiculously lame. I will be replacing it as soon as I save up for a TiVo HD + lifetime.
