Have you ever contemplated?

Given that this will be piloted and operated from far away, likely off a military base (I understand that currently UAV's are piloted from an office building in Las Vegas), how is this different from the insurgent who shoots at troops from a civilian building? If we are to take a strict view, the US military is looking to use their civilian population as a shield. That their enemy cannot reach them is irrelevant; a fighter who fires from a populated civilian area is considered to be operating outside the rules of war.

Perhaps more importantly, by definition, it extends the war to American soil. I thought that the whole point of America's recent forays into the Middle East were intended to stop that.

Actually it allows designers some latitude when using the photograph while remaining true to the photographer's vision. We cannot always use the proportions given us and photographers don't always know the compositional elements of the end product. And the cost of decent retouching, even in this day of Photoshop can be prohibitive.

And it can allow a little "relaxation" into some shoots ;¬)
