Rogers iPhone 3G in-store activation process gets detailed {Engadget}

Jun 30th 2008 10:47AM FYI - It's NOT via GearDiary. It comes from http://iphoneincanada.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=1425

(Though GearDiary did via it...)

Rogers announces iPhone rates in Canada {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 27th 2008 12:54PM Lack of government regulation over Rogers' anti-competitive monopoly abuses.

Rogers announces iPhone 3G plans, unlimited data isn't one of them {Engadget}

Jun 27th 2008 11:39AM These plans are *worse* than I expected however. And the CRTC are total d!ck$ for doing so much less for Canadians than even the FCC does in the US.

What really needs to happen is that the government should remove the $.03/kb surcharge tacked onto US cell phones in Canada, and let Canadians sign up with AT&T. That's about the only thing that will force competitive Canadian prices. (Heck, even the threat of doing it would likely force competitive prices!)

Rogers' and FIDO's iPhone 3G pricing and data plans revealed? {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 19th 2008 5:22PM Sadly this is looking like what might be the price for data on Rogers moving forward (unless the iPhone gets an exclusive deal):

Non-flex plan: $15 for 2MB (hitting the YouTube button once?), $25 for 4MB, $30 for 300MB, $60 for 1GB, $80 for 3GB, and $100 for 6GB?!

Flex plan: $50 for 500MB, $65 for 1GB, $85 for 3GB, and $100 for 5GB?!

Check out the Rogers slide:

American Idol tab in Wi-Fi iTunes store {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Mar 5th 2008 8:41AM Mine doesn't show that tab, just "New Releases", "What's Hot", and "Genres"...

(Though I'm outside the US and rocking 1.1.2 after declining to update the Touch firmware for $20...)

Office 2008's first update is for updating the updater {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Mar 4th 2008 4:22PM Pft! I just got this:

Dear Microsoft customer,

Thank you for your e-mail.

Your order has been updated per you request.

We apologize for any inconvenience this back order may be causing you.

The Microsoft Back Order Processing Team

Office 2008's first update is for updating the updater {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Feb 29th 2008 8:50PM I wouldn't know about any of this, since I've now received two (2!) notices from Microsoft saying they are "out of stock" on my free Office 2008 upgrade, and offering to cancel it for me. Since I went to the trouble of confirming I still want it, they told me maybe March (or maybe that's just when I'll get the next notice?)

How can Microsoft be "out of stock" on Office 2008? And is there any way TUAW could look into this? (Since I've seen other, similar complaints on the web about it).

Thank you for your recent order. The product listed below is currently out of stock.

Begin crazy:

The Speed Download - Macheist saga {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Feb 24th 2008 3:45PM Oh, and using Software Update to push Upgrades is unethical. Update is for unpaid dot release fixes, not for driving business. If you abuse it, you damage the reputation of the system for everyone.

No one running Apple Software Update on Tiger started downloading Leopard.

Big no no.

The Speed Download - Macheist saga {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Feb 24th 2008 3:42PM In hindsight, it would have been smarter to wait until 30 days after MacHeist ended to release v5, thus putting MacHeight bundle purchasers (of which I was one) on a level field with all other previous purchasers outside the free upgrade window.

PR problems are often the least foreseen but can become the most damaging. Luckily, they can also be handled by good PR.
